In October 2002, the Pope added the Mysteries of Light to the existing Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. These new Mysteries are dedicated to Our Lord's public life.
Mysteries of Light
Christ's baptism in the River Jordan
His first miracle at the marriage of Cana
His announcement of the kingdom of God with the invitation to conversion
His Transfiguration [when he revealed his glory to his Apostles]
and the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper
The origninal Mysteries of the Rosary have been used since Pope Pius V introduced them in the year 1569. These new Mysteries are encouraged to be recited on Sundays.
