CASS COMMUNITY CENTRE

This is our former Parish Centre which has been renamed in memory of Fr Dick Cass, our parish priest from 1973 to 1999.

The centre was the brainchild of Fr Dick and opened in 1978 on the site of the former St Edward's School which in turn was on the site of the original St Edward's Church. His intention was to offer parishioners and the local community a place where they could take part in religious, social and recreational activities. The building features a large hall, gymnasium and meeting room and is host to a wide variety of activities ranging from conferences, church meetings, dancing classes and children's parties to karate, kendo and badminton.

The Hall can comfortable accommadate, catering for 80 people. This includes an elavated stage for small bands or musicians. The gym is also used for five-a-side. Although the gym does not have regular five-a-side pitch dimensions, they are adequate for playing with an ideal brick circumference for 5-a-side technical play.

The centre hopes to continue to offer a very valuable service to the community with people as its priority. New users will be made to feel welcome in a safe and friendly environment.

Fittingly, Fr Tom Cass, Fr Dick's brother, kindly agreed to become the first Patron of the Cass Community Centre.

The Centre is used on a daily basis, as previously mentioned, but enquiries can be made to check for availability if required for any meeting requirements.
